Drug Info for zinplava
Bezlotoxumab injection is used to decrease the risk of Clostridium difficile infection (C. difficile or CDI; a type of bacteria that can cause severe or life-threatening diarrhea) from coming back in people who are at high risk for C. difficile infection and who are already taking an antibiotic drug to treat Clostridium difficile. Bezlotoxumab is in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. It works by binding to a C. difficile toxin to stop its effects on the body.

Injection routeYour doctor will prescribe your dose and schedule. This medicine is given through a needle placed in a vein. The medicine must be injected slowly, so your IV tube will need to stay in place for at least 60 minutes.

This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to bezlotoxumab.
This medicine may cause heart failure.
Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or a history of congestive heart failure.
- Trouble breathing, cold sweat, bluish-colored skin
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
- Pain, itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under your skin where the needle is placed
