Fesoterodine is used to treat overactive bladder (a condition in which the bladder muscles contract uncontrollably and cause frequent urination, urgent need to urinate, and inability to control urination). Fesoterodine is in a class of medications called antimuscarinics. It works by relaxing the bladder muscles to prevent urgent, frequent, or uncontrolled urination.

Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.

Swallow the extended-release tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it. Swallow this medicine whole with a glass of water.

Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of this medicine, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at your usual time. Do not take 2 doses at the same day.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to fesoterodine or tolterodine tartrate, or if you have problems passing urine, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, or problems with food emptying from your stomach (gastric retention).

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, bladder blockage, myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness), narrow-angle glaucoma, or stomach or bowel problems (including severe constipation).

This medicine may increase your risk of having urinary retention (trouble passing urine or not fully emptying the bladder).

This medicine may make you dizzy, drowsy, or cause blurred vision. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.

This medicine may make you sweat less, causing your body temperature to increase. Use extra care not to become overheated during exercise or hot weather while you are taking this medicine, since overheating may cause heat stroke.

Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
