Drug Info for sps

Sodium polystyrene sulfonate is used to treat hyperkalemia (increased amounts of potassium in the body). Sodium polystyrene sulfonate is in a class of medications called potassium-removing agents. It works by removing excess potassium from the body.

Kionex is used to lower abnormally high levels of potassium in the blood. It is also used to treat other conditions as prescribed by your doctor. Potassium binds to Kionex and is removed from the body in the stool. This reduces the amount of potassium in the blood. Kionex is indicated for use in adults and is available as a liquid.
