A nurse or other health professional will give your child this medicine.

This medicine must be given slowly to your child through the IV port, which is already in place, for over 15 minutes.

This medicine is not right for everyone. This medicine should not be given if your child had an allergic reaction to ibuprofen lysine, or if your child has congenital heart disease, active bleeding, blood clotting problems, serious stomach or bowel problems (including necrotizing enterocolitis), or serious kidney problems.

Tell your doctor if your child has any infection or bleeding problems.

High fever and chills

Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness

Yellow skin or eyes

Some medicines may affect how ibuprofen lysine works. Tell your doctor if your child is also receiving amikacin or diuretics (water pill).

  • Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
  • High fever, chills, sore throat, cough, body aches
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Pain, itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under your skin where the needle is placed
