Ethambutol eliminates certain bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB). It is used with other medicines to treat tuberculosis and to prevent you from giving the infection to others. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Myambutol is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections. It is also used with other medications to treat tuberculosis (TB). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Take this medicine on a regular schedule. Keep taking it even if you are feeling better. Your doctor will tell you when you can stop taking it.
Ethambutol can be taken with food to avoid stomach upset.
Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to ethambutol or if you have damaged eye nerves (optic neuritis).
