Calcipotriene

Drug Info for calcipotriene

Calcipotriene is used to treat psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form due to increased production of skin cells on some areas of the body). Calcipotriene is in a class of medications called synthetic vitamin D3 derivatives. It works by slowing the excessive production of skin cells.

Dovonex comes in the form of a topical cream and is used to treat plaque psoriasis. It is a man-made form of vitamin D and is involved in the development and growth of new skin cells. Common side effects may include milk skin irritation, skin rash or itching.

Turn the can upside down and place a small amount into the palm of your hand. Apply a thin layer to the affected area of the skin. Rub it in gently until it disappears into the skin. If using on the scalp, apply when your hair is dry.
