Drug Info for xepi

Ozenoxacin is used to treat impetigo (a skin infection caused by bacteria) in adults and children 2 months of age and older. Ozenoxacin is in a class of medications called antibacterials. It works by killing and stopping the growth of bacteria on the skin.

  • On the skin

Use this medicine only on your skin. Do not get the medicine in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Rinse it off right away if it does get on these areas.

Topical application routeApply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area. Rub it in gently.

Keep using the medicine for the full time of treatment to clear up your infection, even if you feel better after the first few doses.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

Missed dose: Topical application routeApply a dose as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and apply a regular dose. Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Topical application routeWash your hands with soap and water before and after you use this medicine.

You may cover the treated area with a sterile bandage or gauze dressing, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

This medicine is generally considered safe for most people. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.

Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Topical application routeDo not use this medicine to treat a skin problem your doctor has not examined.

Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 3 days of using this medicine, or if your symptoms get worse.

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Irritation, redness, itching, burning, or swelling at the application site
