Injection routeYour doctor will prescribe your dose and schedule. This medicine is given through a needle placed in a vein.
Injection routeA nurse or other health provider will give you this medicine.
Pedmark®: This medicine must be given slowly, so the needle will need to stay in place for at least 15 minutes.This medicine is given 6 hours after receiving cancer medicine (including cisplatin).
You may also receive other medicine (including allergy medicine, steroid medicine) or medicine to prevent nausea or vomiting before receiving this medicine.
This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to sodium thiosulfate.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, asthma, or a history of allergy to sulfites.
Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting
- Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
- Pain, itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under your skin where the needle is placed
- Sores or white patches on your lips, mouth, or throat
