Oxaprozin is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by a breakdown of the lining of the joints) and rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis caused by swelling of the lining of the joints). Oxaprozin is also used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children 6 years of age and older. Oxaprozin is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation.
Daypro is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain or inflammation caused by osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.
This medicine should come with a Medication Guide. Ask your pharmacist for a copy if you do not have one.
Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction (including asthma) to oxaprozin, aspirin, or similar medicines. Do not use it if you have had heart surgery, called coronary artery bypass graft (CABG).
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Do not use this medicine during the later part of pregnancy, unless your doctor tells you to.
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, bleeding disorder, heart disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, a recent heart attack, or a history of stomach or bowel problems (including bleeding or ulcers). Tell your doctor if you smoke or drink alcohol.

This medicine may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Wear sunscreen. Do not use sunlamps or tanning beds.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
Do not use any other NSAID (including aspirin, celecoxib, diclofenac, diflunisal, ibuprofen, naproxen, or salsalate) unless your doctor says it is okay.
Some foods and medicines can affect how oxaprozin works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following:Cyclosporine, digoxin, glyburide, lithium, methotrexate, pemetrexedBlood pressure medicine (including ACE inhibitors, ARBs, beta blockers)Blood thinner (including warfarin)Diuretic (water pill)Medicine to treat depression (including SNRIs, SSRIs)Steroid medicine

- Bloody or black, tarry stools, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
- Decrease in how much or how often you urinate, rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Chest pain that may spread, trouble breathing, coughing up blood, unusual sweating, fainting
- Fast, slow, or pounding heartbeat
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
- Numbness or weakness on one side of your body, sudden or severe headache, problems with vision, speech, or walking
- Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
- Blistering, peeling, red skin rash
