Ospemifene is used to treat changes due to menopause (''change of life,'' the end of monthly menstrual periods) in and around the vagina that can cause painful sexual intercourse and vaginal dryness. Ospemifene is in a class of medications called hormones. It works by replacing estrogen that is normally produced by the body.

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

Oral routeIt is best to take this medicine with food or milk.

Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to ospemifene, or if you are pregnant. Do not use it if you have vaginal bleeding that has not been checked by a doctor or a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack.

  • Warmth or redness in your face, neck, arms, or upper chest
  • White or brownish vaginal discharge
