Drug Info for triamcinolone acetonide
Triamcinolone, a corticosteroid, is similar to a natural hormone produced by your adrenal glands. It often is used to replace this chemical when your body does not make enough of it. It relieves inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to treat certain forms of arthritis; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis); severe allergies; and asthma. Triamcinolone is also used to treat certain types of cancer. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a medication used to treat various skin conditions, arthritis, and allergies. Triamcinolone acetonide belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids, commonly referred to as “steroids.” Triamcinolone acetonide is a generic medication also sold under the brand names Kenalog, Volon A, and Nasacort. Triamcinolone acetonide can be administered topically on the skin, by injection, or as a nasal spray.

Your doctor or dentist will tell you how much to use and how often.
Use the medicine on the inside of your mouth.
It is best to use the medicine at bedtime so it can work overnight. If you also use the medicine during the day, put it on after meals.
Squeeze about 1/4 inch of the paste from the tube onto a cotton swab (Q-tip®). Press the paste on the area you are treating until the medicine sticks and a thin film forms.
Do not rub the medicine in. Rubbing may cause the paste to crumble or become gritty.
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to triamcinolone or if you have an infection in your mouth or throat.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have tuberculosis, diabetes, ulcers, or chickenpox before you use this medicine.
