Drug Info for lincomycin hcl

Lincocin is a member of the lincomycin derivatives drug class and used to treat patients with severe bacterial infections. This medication will not treat patients with viral infections such as the cold or flu.

  • By injection

Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it should be given. This medicine is given as a shot into a muscle, vein or eye.

Injection routeA nurse or other health provider will give you this medicine.

Missed dose: This medicine needs to be given on a fixed schedule. If you miss a dose, call the doctor or nurse for instructions.

This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to lincomycin or clindamycin.

Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness.

Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

Light-headedness or fainting.

Shortness of breath, cold sweat, and bluish-colored skin.

Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or a history of asthma, allergies, or stomach problems.

This medicine can cause diarrhea. Call your doctor if the diarrhea becomes severe, does not stop, or is bloody. Do not take any medicine to stop diarrhea until you have talked to your doctor. Diarrhea can occur 2 months or more after you stop taking this medicine.

Do not use this medicine together with erythromycin.

Tell your doctor if you have a history of kidney or liver disease, asthma, serious allergies, or stomach or intestinal problems such as colitis.

This medicine can cause diarrhea. Call your doctor if the diarrhea becomes severe, does not stop, or is bloody. Do not take any medicine to stop diarrhea until you have talked to your doctor. Diarrhea can occur 2 months or more after you stop taking this medicine.

  • Trouble breathing, mouth or throat swelling
  • Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  • Blistering, peeling, red rash
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Diarrhea that may contain blood
  • Swelling, pain, or redness under your skin where the needle is placed
