Gatifloxacin

Drug Info for gatifloxacin

Gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pinkeye; infection of the membrane that covers the outside of the eyeballs and the inside of the eyelids) in adults and children 1 year of age and older. Gatifloxacin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infection.

Zymaxid treats conjunctivitis ("pink eye") caused by certain kinds of bacteria. The generic version of Zymaxid is called gatifloxacin. On average, the Zymaxid cost for 0.5% ophthalmic solution is about $110 for 2.5 mL. You can reduce your Zymaxid cost by using our free Zymaxid discount card at a local pharmacy that participates with OptionRx.
