Drug Info for ofloxacin
Ofloxacin otic is used to treat outer ear infections in adults and children, chronic (long-lasting) middle ear infections in adults and children with a perforated eardrum (a condition where the eardrum has a hole in it), and acute (suddenly occurring) middle ear infections in children with ear tubes. Ofloxacin otic is in a class of medications called quinolone antibiotics. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infection.
Ofloxacin is prescribed to patients to treat certain bacterial infections of the skin, lungs and prostate. Ofloxacin can also be used to treat Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. It is an antibiotic medication that works by reducing the growth of bacteria in the body.

Otic routeRemove the cap. Do not let the tip of the dropper touch anything, including your ear.
Lie down or tilt your head to the side. Drop the correct number of drops into the ear.
For a middle ear infection (otitis media): Gently fold in the flap of skin at the front of the ear after you put in the drops. Let go of the flap, then fold it in again. Do this 5 times, using a pumping motion. This helps move the medicine into the middle ear.
For an outer ear infection (otitis externa, "swimmer€™s ear"): Gently pull the earlobe up and back to straighten the ear canal.
Keep the ear tilted up for a few minutes.
Repeat these steps for the other ear, if needed.
Take all of the medicine in your prescription to clear up your infection, even if you feel better after the first few doses.
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to ofloxacin or similar antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, gatifloxacin, levofloxacin, Ciloxan®, Cipro®, Levaquin®, or Tequin®.
