Corzide

Nadolol-Bendroflumethiazide is a combination medicine including a beta blocker that works by keeping epinephrine, a natural chemical from acting on the heart and blood vessels and a water pill that helps the body to get rid of extra salt and water. It is used to treat high blood pressure.

Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.

Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it.

Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to nadolol, bendroflumethiazide, or sulfa drugs, if you cannot pass urine, or if you have asthma or certain blood circulation or heart problems. Ask your doctor about these problems.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, heart disease, diabetes, gout, lung problems (including chronic bronchitis or emphysema), lupus, electrolyte imbalance, thyroid problems, or a history of allergies or asthma.

Worsening chest pain

Some foods and medicines can affect how nadolol/bendroflumethiazide works. Tell your doctor if you use the following:Amphotericin B, diazoxide, digoxin, lithium salts, methenamine, norepinephrine, probenecid, reserpine, sulfinpyrazoneBlood thinner (including warfarin)Insulin or diabetes medicineMAO inhibitor (MAOI)NSAIDs (including aspirin, diclofenac, indomethacin, naproxen)Other blood pressure medicineSteroid medicine

If you are also taking cholestyramine or colestipol, take Corzide® at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after these medicines.

Ask your doctor before you use medicines, supplements, or salt substitutes that contain potassium.

Alcohol, narcotic pain relievers, or sleeping pills may cause you to feel more lightheaded, dizzy, or faint when used with this medicine.

This medicine may make you dizzy, drowsy, or lightheaded. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.

Do not stop using the medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure your high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.

• Dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps
• Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, rapid weight gain
• Unusual tiredness or weakness, restlessness
• Sudden and severe stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting
• Confusion, weakness, muscle twitching
• Trouble breathing, cold sweat, or bluish-colored skin
• Slow, fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
• Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
• Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
• Chest pain that may spread, unusual sweating, fainting
• Diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, stomach upset
