Your doctor will tell you how much to take and how often. You should not use more of this medicine than your doctor ordered.

Take this medicine within 30 minutes after a meal or bedtime snack.

Swallow the tablet whole with an 8-ounce glass of water.

Drink at least one 8-ounce glass of water every hour while you are taking this medicine, or follow your doctor's instructions about fluid intake.

Measure your oral liquid dose carefully using a measuring spoon or medicine cup.

Pour the correct dose of the oral liquid medicine into a small glass of water. Drink all of this mixture and then drink another glass of water if desired.

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to sodium citrate, if you are on a low-salt diet, or if you have severe kidney disease.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, make sure your doctor knows if you have Addison's disease (underactive adrenal glands), diabetes, heart or kidney disease, high blood pressure, hypocalcemia (low calcium in the blood), intestinal blockage, or stomach problems.

While you are taking this medicine, your doctor may want to check your blood at regular intervals. Keep all appointments.

Do not eat salty foods or use salt substitutes or extra table salt while you are taking this medicine.

If your medicine also contains potassium citrate (Citrolith®), you should not use salt substitutes unless your doctor has told you to.

You should not use antacids with this medicine without first checking with your doctor.

Make sure your doctor knows if you are also taking any type of diuretic, heart medicine, or medicine for pain.
