Amicar belongs to a class of drugs known as antifibrinolytics. It is used to control bleeding in people with certain medical conditions such as aplastic anemia (lack of blood cells and platelets), cirrhosis of the liver, placenta abruptio (early separation of the placenta in pregnancy), urinary bleeding, and certain types of cancer. Amicar works by helping the blood to clot normally.

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

Liquid: Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup.

Missed dose: You must use this medicine on a fixed schedule. Call your doctor or pharmacist if you miss a dose.
